London Grand Prix cancelled

The London Grand Prix for Formula (2000cc) Grand Prix circuit racing craft due to be held on June 12-13 has been cancelled

The London Grand Prix for Formula (2000cc) Grand Prix circuit racing craft due to be held on June 12-13 has been cancelled. A spokesman for the National Authority blames lack of sufficient funds which last year were thought to be in the region of £75k to underwrite the very successful inaugural event.

With a Victoria Dock course immediately in front of the Excel exhibition center, due to host the 2004 London Boat Show in January, a successful event could have cemented its future as a mid-year publicity platform. However, the organiser claims have sponsorship already committed that will assure the event will go ahead in June 2004.

The cancellation leaves the Cardiff Dock event on June 28-29 as the only major circuit (inland) racing grand prix on this year’s British circuit calendar.
