Bid for jackets worn by round the world heroes

Let's hope they've been washed

Visitors to the Southampton Boat Show can bid for a jacket worn by a famous round the world sailor.

The opening day of the show, Friday 14 September, sees the launch of the Green Blue’s new website ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ and consequently the start of its Sailing Super Stars Auction.

Visitors will be able to bid for the jackets of Dee Caffari (the one she wore making history as the first woman to sail single-handed non-stop around the world against the prevailing winds and currents), Mike Golding’s jacket (which kept him warm while he fought back upwind to save Alex Thompson as his boat was sinking), and finally the jacket of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who completed the Velux5Oceans round the world race earlier this year.

Place your bids for the super star auction online at
www.greenblue.org.uk

Proceeds from the auction go to the Marine Conservation Society’s beach cleaning program.
