Boats to be kept away from Parade of Sail

Motor boats and yachts are to be banned from joining next month's Tall Ships' Parade of Sail on the River Mersey.

Motor boats and yachts are to be banned from joining next month’s Tall Ships’ Parade of Sail on the River Mersey. Harbourmaster Captain Steve Gallimore says the decision has been taken on safety grounds, and small craft will be restricted to designated mooring or anchoring areas at the side of the river.

The parade on Monday 21 July will be led by the Royal Navy frigate HMS Argyll and will be the culmination of four days of festivities on the Mersey. Up to 80 tall ships, crewed by some 5-6,000 young people from over 30 countries worldwide, are scheduled to take part.
