Cardiff Marine Village opens

One stop shop for all boating needs

Cardiff Marine Village, a £3million marine business park, will launch with a public open day on Saturday 15 November from 12-5pm.

Cardiff Marine Village brings together 10 specialist marine companies to create ‘a complete boat storage, service and supply centre’.

The 13,000 sq ft of retail, office and workshop space on Penarth road, Cardiff aims to create a one stop shop for all boating needs – a boat repairs and servicing business, an outboard engine dealer, a specialist composites engineer, a chandlery, a sail maker, a yacht charters business, a specialist training centre and a canoe and kayak retailer.

The development will also see the first dry stack boat storage system in the region.

Robert Freemantle, Director of Operations for Cardiff Marine Group said: “Our Ferry Road site lacked the space and facilities to meet demand and, with the fantastic International Sports Village development, was out-of -step with its surroundings. We felt there was a real opportunity, not just to replace the boatyard, but also to dramatically improve the city’s marine services.

“The concentration of skilled labour and specialist expertise means that businesses can collaborate to deliver marine contracts and project and should help position Cardiff as a major centre of marine excellence.”
