Dag Pike wins Round Britain Race again!

The old man of the fleet shows them how it's done

Britain’s Dag Pike has won the Round Britain Powerboat Race, as navigator on board Blue FPT.

Regular MBY contributor Dag, 75, from Bristol, is the oldest man in the race and, after winning the last race too, initially refused to put himself through the gruelling experience again.

He only joined the Greek-crewed Blue FPT in recent months, but his expertise stood them in excellent stead.

In the last race, in 1984, Dag was navigator on White Iveco, the winning boat of Fabio Buzzi.

Buzzi had to retire from this race, but as designer of Blue FPT he will no doubt be cheering today’s result.

After a blistering final leg from Lowestoft to Portsmouth, British boat Ventura, crewed by Andy Macateer, Nick Wilner, Andy Sutcliffe and Mark Wildey, and incidentally also designed by Buzzi, crossed the line first.

The second Goldfish 36 RIB Gutta Boyz was second, with Blue FPT third.
