Draco 22 RS to be launched in the UK this spring

The Draco 22 RS will be launched in the UK at May's Jersey Boat Show

The Draco 22 RS will make its UK debut at May’s Jersey Boat Show before appearing at the inaugural Poole Harbour Boat Show a week later.

The 22 RS builds on the concept of the 27 RS, which was launched at Düsseldorf last year, meaning deep, safe decks, a sociable cockpit with a convertible aft bench/sunpad and a bow rider section forward.

The prominent windscreen should provide good shelter for those at the helm and navigator position and both chairs swivel around to join up with the table and aft bench. There is also the option to have a 12v fridge forward to keep your drinks and sandwiches cool during a day trip.

The transom is left open, ideal for fishing or watersports (though you may want to keep an eye on kids wandering around at the stern) and a neat canopy system can add protection to the cockpit in seconds.

Much like its larger sister, the single outboard should combine simple control with a sensible amount of power and surefooted, agile handling.

If these initial computer renderings are anything to go by, the little Draco is going to be a handsome piece of kit. The sleek lines mimic the larger 27 – no bad thing – but with an even more traditionally sportsboat profile and the finish and packaging looks as good as you would expect from a brand breathed upon by Windy.

Starting on the water with a single Yamaha 150hp outboard for around £52,000 + VAT, the 22 RS looks a handsome, safe and practical family day boat.
