Frauscher 909 Benaco

Bonkers, fun, eccentric and wild - need we say more?

What they say
“This is the perfect boat for a fun day out on the water.”

What we say
What a fantastic, bonkers, madly styled sportsboat. Frauscher’s video showed the 909’s twin-stepped hull, with its unusual knife-like bow sections, hurtling around at enormous speed. It looked like tremendous fun to drive.

Frauscher offer an impressively diverse trio of engines, including the super-reliable Steyr diesels. Even the smallest option is wild: twin 225hp VW diesels. For real thrill-seekers though, there’s a pair of 320hp V8 petrol engines. Those will be interesting in a boat weighing just over three tonnes!

Although the tiny vee-berth/settee interior is necessarily simple, there’s some sophisticated engineering on deck, with a fully automatic powered bimini, which hides away below the teak deck around the sunbed’s perimeter. The 909 is totally eccentric and it isn’t cheap given the simple finish inside. But if Jim Carrey bought a speedboat, I reckon this is what he’d go for.
