Glider Yachts reveals more details ahead of Monaco launch

The Glider Yachts SS18 will be capable of a top speed of 56 knots and cost upwards of £600,000

Further details of Glider Yachts’ debut model have emerged as the firm prepares to make its public debut at next month’s Monaco Yacht Show (September 23-26).

The London-based company revealed its original design back in January, went into production in April and has now confirmed some key figures.

Its first model, the Glider Yachts SS18 will come with four 270hp supercharged engines, giving a top speed of 56 knots, the company estimates.

The cockpit will have seating for the skipper plus four passengers and the chrome and leather interior styling is by Corbeau.

Sales will be handled by Southampton-based Inwards Marine and initial prices for the SS18 will start at £600,000.

Potential buyers are looking at a seven-month lead time, so any orders placed at Monaco can be delivered by May 2016.

Robert McCall, Managing Director of Glider Yachts, said: “The SS18 is unlike any other yacht seen in the market to date, with unparalleled design and technological capabilities.

“We’re sure she is going to be a real game-changer in the superyacht market. I’m excited to see the reaction as we introduce her at Monaco for the first time.”

The firm, which has secured £100m of backing, plans to build a range of Glider Yachts measuring up to 35m. The fastest models will be capable of cruising at 100 knots, the firm adds.
