Historic Rivas gather in the Med

More than 70 Rivas have gathered for the 5th Monaco Classic Week

More than 70 motorboats from the Riva shipyard have been in Monaco at the invitation of the Yacht Club de Monaco for the opening this week of the 5th Monaco Classic Week, Trophée Prada.

“It is the first time that we have been able to reunite boats retracing the history of the shipyard from 1930 to 1996 and to present the first models of each series. The boats are truly exceptional,” explained Piero Gibelini, founding president of the Riva Historical Society.

“Despite the events that have led us to cancel a part of the programme and which have prevented the arrival of some of the boats registered, we have been able to welcome competitors from Germany, England, Belgium, America, Finland, Holland, Italy and Sweden,” Gibelini added.

Trophée Prada marks the first part of Monaco Classic Week which will conclude when around 90 classic yachts begin their journey from Monaco marina tomorrow for a series of regattas as part of the Prada Challenge for Classic Yachts 2001, a unique circuit of regattas co-ordinated by the Yacht Club de Monaco.
