Lapworth and Haines take opening lead in Honda Four Stroke series

Sixteen contenders lined up for the opening round of the Honda Four Stroke championships, the Grand Prix of Wales, in Cardiff Bay on May 18/19. The result of the two-day meeting on was decided on points accrued from three short inshore events plus a slightly longer race over an offshore course. Although Peter Moore and Iain Mclean from Poole won Saturday’s three-race contest in Rocela the pair slipped back to fifth on the offshore course the following day. This longer event was won by Hoodlum driven by Shaun Lapworth and Eleanor Haines from Maidenhead who finished third on points aggregate in the earlier heats. The joint result gives Lapworth and Haines the opening lead in the series with a total score of 25 points. The second round, the Grand Prix of England, takes place on the Thames in London on June 8/9.
