New Portland Marina on the go

This is how major new South Coast site will look

Developers have released this image of how the new marina at Osprey Quay on Portland Harbour, Weymouth, will look.

With nearly 600 berths Portland Marina will be the largest single yacht marina constructed in the UK since Haslar Marina was built in 1993.

The site was a major naval base until the late 1990s, since when it has been used to host national and international dinghy regattas. This played a large part in the site’s selection as the host of the sailing events in the 2012 Olympics.

All the new pontoons by Walcon Marine will be fully serviced with power, water and TV provided through service bollards. Also included in the design for the marina will be a fuel berth, pump out facility, travel hoist and extensive shoreside storage including a dry stack building.

The total contract price for the new marina pontoons will be in excess of £3 million and construction of the marina itself, and the design of the pontoons that will form part of the overall structure, has already begun.
