New weather service at www.ybw.com

100 times more data than traditional models

YBW.com, which is the umbrella website for Mby.com, today unveils a new precision weather service.

Produced in partnership with specialist numerical weather forecast service provider, Theyr.net, and using the most advanced weather forecast models, YBW weather, powered by Theyr.net, will be able to offer weather forecasts at 0.1 degree resolution, providing 100 times more data than the standard 1 degree data traditionally used.

The data is presented in graphical format within the precision weather planner with intuitive functions easily displaying whatever detail is required.

Dan Foley, editor of YBW.com, says: “The weather and tides section of YBW.com consistently ranks in the top five most popular areas of YBW.com.

“Offering first class, precision weather data builds on this foundation and places YBW.com streets ahead of its nearest rival, cementing our position as one of Europe’s leading marine websites.

“Choosing theyr.net as our partner was an obvious decision. Theyr.net clients include not only the most discerning users in boating like Gipsy Moth IV, Transat, Ostar, RORC and rescue organisations but also WRC teams (BP/Ford 2007/08 Champions), nuclear power plants and a European Space Agency project.”

David Young, managing director of theyr.net, adds: “We know how important detailed and reliable weather data is to all marine leisure enthusiasts, so teaming up with YBW to provide YBW.com’s new free weather service will bring our high quality and detailed weather forecasts to YBW’s extensive and discerning audience.

“We’re also able to offer great value subscriptions from YBW.com to our six day (hourly) forecasts and our progrib.com service, further enhancing the weather and sailing related services available from YBW’s comprehensive website.”

YBW.com’s new weather service can be found at www.ybw.com/weather and will be demonstrated at the IPC Marine Media stand at London Boat Show, which runs until 20 January at Excel.
