A new name emerged to break the winning domination of Jerry Peachment when Paul Noone (Dac/Mercury) won the fourth round of the Formula GP championship at Stewartby, Beds, on June 15.

Second place went to Colin Jelf (Jelf/Mercury) who came up from behind but could not find the extra speed needed to topple the eventual winner. Third slot was filled by veteran circuit driver Steve Kerton (Burgess/Mercury), a well deserved place and one he hopes is a springboard for the rest of the season.

In a surprise move, Jerry Peachment (Burgess/Mercury), who dominated the previous three rounds of the series, jumped the starting signal and was penalised one lap. His prowess behind the wheel however was such he still managed to make good this handicap to finish fourth overall.
