Princess plans big year of launches in 2013

New V48, 52 flybridge, 82 Motor Yacht and 88 Motor Yacht all set for launch next year

Princess has got a big 2013 planned with a new V48, 52 flybridge, 82 Motor Yacht and 88 Motor Yacht all set for launch next year.

The smallest of the quartet, the V48, is arguably the biggest news, as it will be Princess’s first ever pod-drive boat, powered by Volvo’s IPS system.

Triple sliding cockpit doors and a large powered sunroof will help open the boat to the elements, and closed should create a cosy environment when the rain starts falling.

Below decks, owners take the ensuite master amidships with big hull windows providing plenty of light; guests get the forecabin, which can be specced with scissor-action berths.

The new flybridge 52 replaces the outgoing 50 and takes its styling cues from the Princess 56 seen at Southampton, with that now characteristic pane of glass in the topsides flooding the master cabin with light.

If the 56 is anything to go by, the new 52 will deliver much more space than the model it replaces as well as great performance thanks to resin infusion technology keeping the weight down.

With a galley-up layout and U-shaped seating forward faced by a two-person sofa, the main deck of the new 52 should be a really sociable area with food preparation at the heart of things.

Resin infusion is also being used to make the hulls of the two big boats, the 82 and 88 Motor Yacht, which should again result in some Tardis-like spaces.

Owners of both boats will get what promise to be huge master cabins amidships, with full-beam bathrooms acting as a buffer between these staterooms and the machinery space.
