On July 27, some 900 million people tuned in to to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics – one of the key moments of which was David Beckham’s journey down the Thames in a powerboat.

In the October issue of Motor Boat & Yachting (out 6 September), we have the exclusive inside story of this stunning sequence, and talk to the builder of the boat, Jeremy Watts of Ice Marine.
