Round Britain Race back in action

MBY's man on the revamped Fairey, Team 747

After the second leg of the Round Britain Powerboat Race was cancelled due to poor weather around Land’s End and in the Bristol Channel, the race is back in action today.

The remaining fleet heads to Bangor in Northern Ireland from Milford Haven.

MBY’s correspondent Derek Wynans is on board Team 747, one of the boats which trucked their craft to Wales from Devon yesterday afternoon.

The Cummins-powered craft is owned by 747 pilot Jonathan Napier and crewed by two other 747 pilots. A third, Cormac Lundy, had to leave the race on the first leg after breaking a rib in heavy seas off the Needles.

Derek says: “I am now on one of the best-looking boats in the fleet, and one of the fastest Faireys on record, so I can’t wait to get going.”
