Sunseeker joins the hybrid-powered revolution

Read an exclusive report on the company's first hybrid-powered boat in December's Motor Boat & Yachting

Sunseeker
will soon become the first major British boatbuilder to produce a hybrid-powered boat.

A hybrid-powered Sunseeker Manhattan 70 is currently in build, and is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.

If sea trials are successful, the hybrid system could become a factory fit option by as early as autumn 2011.

MBY
understands that the boat will be fitted with twin MTU 1,250hp M94 engines linked to a combined electric motor/generator or crankshaft starter/generator instead of a separate starter motor and alternator.

This will direct power to and from a bank of lithium-ion batteries.

You can read more about this exclusive story in the December issue of MBY, out on November 4.
