Off the Isle of Wight

A warning to mariners has been put out over timber drifting around the Isle of Wight from the sunken ship MV Ice Prince.

The Ice Prince sank earlier this week off Portland Bill.

The official advice reads:

1. Mariners are advised that 2,000 tonnes of floating timber lost from MV Ice Prince is drifting in an area stretching from the Isle of Wight to Selsey Bill with significant quantities in the vicinity of the Nab Tower.

2. Some of the timber is in bales approx. 3m x 3m and 10m long, weighing up to 2.5 tonnes.
