Powerboat P1 Management Ltd has published its provisional calendar for the 2010 season.

The schedule shows the championship racing at six venues, including two Grand Prix events beyond the series’ traditional British base.  The SuperStock Championship will showcase the UK’s most accessible marine motorsport to a wider audience, adding a new tier of racing to the existing P1 championship structure.

Beginning in Split, Croatia on April 16-18, the SuperStock will later visit popular tourist areas around the British Isles as well as providing an extra opportunity for the newest member of Powerboat P1 to compete alongside the world championship in foreign waters.

“We are extremely excited to announce the first-ever SuperStock Championship calendar,” said Powerboat P1 Director, Andy Hindley. “The early signs for the series are fantastic. In just ten weeks since taking over Formula 4-Stroke we have organised the calendar, ratified a set of rules and secured a television agreement.

In addition to sharing the limelight with the world P1 championship for the first time, the SuperStock’s inaugural Grand Prix of the Sea in Split will run in conjunction with the Croatia Boat Show, presenting a unique collaboration for the  marine motorsport.

The Cornish port of Penzance will host the second round before going to Galway on Ireland’s west coast as part of the Around Ireland Offshore Powerboat Race so returning to the Emerald Isle since the series’ last visit in 2006.

Pwllheli retains its place on the calendar with the Welsh coastal town reinforcing the Celtic flavour.

Powerboat P1 Management Ltd is thrilled to offer SuperStock Championship teams a second chance to race overseas, with August’s scheduled stopover in Sweden becoming the fourth new addition to the former Honda F4SA Championship’s calendar.

Hindley added: “Pwllheli has a fantastic infrastructure and we are eager to continue our relationship with the seaside town.

“Racing outside of the championship’s conventional UK and Irish shores, coupled with the exciting collaborations with the Croatia Boat Show and the Around Ireland Offshore Powerboat Race in Galway, illustrates our huge ambitions for the series.

“I am confident that our ability to deliver four new venues and a sensational finale planned for September on England’s south coast will ensure a successful first year for the SuperStock Championship.”
