Dag Pike wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Standing ovation for popular motorboat legend

Dag Pike was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the YJA/Raymarine Yachtsman of the Year Awards on 13 January.

Dag, 75, of Bristol, was shortlisted for the prestigious Yachtsman of the Year trophy for his role as navigator in the winning Round Britain Powerboat Race boat.

He was beaten to that prize by the 2008 Olympic sailing team, but was recognised for his extraordinary career afloat which started with working life on a trawler.

Since then he has won two Round Britain Powerboat Races, navigated boats for the top powerboaters in the world, was part of Richard Branson’s transatlantic team, written countless books and been an official advisor for the RNLI and other bodies.

He has also revealed he is tempted to enter the next Round Britain Powerboat Race in 2012!
