Superyacht sinks in Thailand

Things go badly wrong when a new superyacht is launched in Thailand

A superyacht has sunk at a boatyard in Thailand following a botched launching.

The yacht slid sedately down the slipway into the Chin River, but listed heavily to port as it hit the water. Unfortunately this allowed water to flood into its lower decks, and although boatyard workers tried to adjust the restraining cables the yacht settled down on the riverbed. The superstructure and bow remain above the surface, and a salvage operation is currently being scrambled together.

Local newspapers report that the yacht, named Fox, was destined to be British registered, but nobody at the boatyard at Muang Samut Sakhon near Bangkok was available for comment.
