Organisers of the Offshore P1 championship series have announced that Gillette will be title sponsor of the British Grand Prix at Cowes (formally the Cowes-Torquay and Cowes Classic) schedule for 26th-28th August.

The Gillette MACH3 NITRO Gel P1 British Grand Prix (Rounds seven and eight of the 2005 World Championship) will be the feature event of a spectacular three-day festival of racing with more than 70 boats expected to compete. The organisers, KBL Powerboat Management Ltd, aim to establish the British Grand Prix as one of sports’ Blue Ribband events and promise action-packed racing, glamour and entertainment for all.

Gillette, has a strong history of innovative sponsorships. This arrangement creates an association and launch platform for its latest MACH3 anti-friction shaving gel.

The Gillette MACH3 NITRO Gel Powerboat P1 British Grand Prix at Cowes, Isle of Wight, will comprise two races, an Endurance event on 27th August and a Rally race on 28th August.

Lucy Goemen, Gillette UK, Business Manager, Men’s Skincare says,

“We are very excited to be sponsoring the Gillette MACH3 NITRO Gel Powerboat P1 British Grand Prix. It is an obvious partnership for our brand as P1 is all about exhilaration, power and performance on water. The British Grand Prix will be a real action packed event watched by huge crowds, a perfect opportunity to launch our new product.”

Nathan Knight, CEO, KBL Powerboat Management Ltd commented,

“Attracting a sponsor as prestigious as Gillette reflects the growth of Powerboat P1 as a new viable sport. We are re-establishing the Cowes Powerboat Festival as a premier international powerboat event with entertainment on-and-off the water. Our objective is to build a festival that the public can relate to in much the same way that they do with the Grand National at Aintree or the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.”
