Day 3 – Holland

The fleet has reached Nieuwpoort and plans are afoot for the next leg

Nieuwpoort 51°08.55N 002°44.34E

We made it! We woke this morning to a blue sky and beaming sun and, after hearing the report back from our RIB Time Flies and consulting the weather oracle that is Neale, the decision was made to embark across the Channel to Nieuwpoort.

By 5pm local time (4pm BST) all the boats were moored up and most people were congratulating themselves with a well-deserved drink in the yacht club. A few boats had an extra reason to celebrate after completing their first ever Channel crossing. Neale and I inBlue Finhad a splendid run and even spied a dolphin near Dunkirk.

Sadly Donny Rover had to stay behind in Ramsgate due to ongoing engine problems while Blue Diamond and Castaway have also been held up. There is some good news though, as late comers Joli D arrived to meet us in Nieuwpoort and they even brought us a fruit cake so they’re definitely in the good books.

The plan for the morning is to rise at some unearthly hour and head to our next destination of Delta Marina in Kortgene on the Veerse Meer. If all goes to plan and we reach Delta we will be having a dinner tomorrow evening at the yacht club, which will give everyone a proper chance to meet.
