Windy Chinook 44
What they say “Designed for families who are not prepared to sacrifice style and performance for space and comfort.”
Windy have bucked the current trend in offering two small mid cabins in place of the usual single large owner’s cabin. The cockpit is the real highlight of this boat. It’s simply laid out, and all the better for it. Huge, sweeping, yet unbeatably practical and ergonomically excellent dash and helm layouts are becoming a Windy trademark. The three-part stowage above the bathing platform is well thought out, with the central locker neatly disappearing to make way for a passerelle if required. The huge U-shaped seating area would swallow the most portly of parties. All told, it’s a great place to chill out.
Verdict
As far as we know, the Chinook is unique amongst sportscruisers in offering sterndrive and IPS as alternatives. The myriad benefits of IPS are well known, although you will have to be an IPS junkie as the IPS600 adds £32,400 to the sterndrive 44's already eye-popping £475,224 inc VAT starting price.
