Cannes Boat Show 2018: Sunseeker 74 Sportyacht, Sunreef 40 Open and Silent 55 Catamaran videos

Hugo Andreae takes you on a tour of the Sunseeker 74 Sportyacht, Sunreef 40 Open and Silent 55 Catamaran, which have been recently launched at the Cannes Boat Show 2018. Watch the videos here

Sunseeker 74 Sportyacht

The flagship of Sunseeker’s sportsbridge range has made its global debut at the Cannes Boat Show.
Using the blueprint of the Predator 74 sportscruiser, the Sport Yacht adds a sleek flybridge but retains the sunroof over the forward end of the saloon. The flybridge is more than just a steering wheel and some seats; it has a double helm with more seating adjacent and a dinette aft that is part sunbathing area too.

With the galley located below decks it is useful to have the small wet bar on the top deck so you don’t have to travel too far for supplies. Sticking the galley on the lower deck isn’t something you see often these days but it does leave a seriously spacious main deck where, thanks to doors that slide down out of the way, the link between cockpit and saloon is excellent.

Sunreef 40 Open

You would think that an open 40ft catamaran with folding balconies and foiling capability would be radical enough, but Sunreef isn’t a yard that does things by halves. On top of this, the boat at the show will be fitted with a pair of 860hp Mercury racing engines for a top speed of 60 knots, and its topsides are finished in a diamond coating. It all sounds fantastically bonkers and we can’t wait to see it in the flesh.

It may be an off-the-wall concept but there is a very capable day boat to enjoy here, which should be imbued with the smooth ride and inherent stability that comes with twin hulls. You can even specify a cabin if you want to use the boat as a weekender.

Silent 55 Catamaran

Silent 55 Catamaran uses silent electric propulsion for unlimited range, with no noise or fumes and minimal vibration.

Silent 55 boasts 30 high-efficiency solar panels rated for approximately 9 kilowatt-peak and uses maximum power point tracking (MPPT) solar charge regulators and lithium batteries, which provide capacity for all-night cruising, while a 15-kVA inverter provides power for all household appliances.

Silent 55 is available in up to five power configurations. It can be equipped as a “Cruiser” version, with a pair of 30 kW motors; an “E-Power” version with 2 x 250 kW motors; a “Hybrid Power” version with 2 x 220 hp diesel engines and two 14 kW electric motors; and the “Sailor” version, equipped with all the previously mentioned configurations plus a mast and sails to provide additional propulsion in fair winds.
