Andrea Dini appointed as new UIM Secretary General

Régine Vandekerckhove retires after 19 years in the role

Andrea Dini has been appointed secretary seneral of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) with immediate effect.

His candidature for this role within the International Powerboating Federation was proposed by the UIM Executive Committee to the UIM Council which unanimously accepted his appointment at the its last meeting in Monaco.

Dini will replace Mrs Régine Vandekerckhove who has led the UIM Monaco office since 1992.

Andrea has a passion for powerboating but in recent years was a leading journalist and television producer for international television and magazines.

He has been living a few kilometres from Viareggio, the Italian base of powerboating, where he has developed a useful interaction with the powerboating industry and powerboat sport particularly offshore, aquabike, and inland circuit racing.

Andrea’s media and marketing skills will be an asset in view of the UIM’s future programme. Andrea has already been actively involved in the organisation as member of the UIM Media and Marketing working group.

He says: “After many years of appreciated services to the industry and powerboating, it’s a great honour and an opportunity for me to focus my knowledge and experience at the service of the world governing body of the sport.

“It’s like crowning a dream after several years of hard and professional work for our sport. Let me thank the UIM Council and all the people who gave me their confidence and trust for this great opportunity.”
