Sleek, stylish and sociable, the Boarnstream Elegance 1300 represents a bold new direction for this venerable yard

For the past 50 years, Boarnstream has been synonymous with aft-cabin cruisers, but the Boarnstream Elegance 1300 is the first of a new range of sedan models that are shaking things up.

Launched at the 2015 Düsseldorf Boat Show, the Elegance concept proved to be a huge hit, with five orders off plan. So for this video, we sent Jack Haines over to the Netherlands to find out what all the fuss is about.

Stepping on board the Boarnstream Elegance 1300 and you are immediately struck by the single-level deck layout, with a seamless flow between the cockpit and the saloon.

Below decks, accommodation is split between a master cabin in the bows and a pair of twin berths amidships.

Power comes from a single Volvo Penta D4 that generates 180hp and delivers a leisurely top speed of 8 knots – ideal for wafting along the inland waterways.

For those who want more power, a twin IPS600 version will be made available, upping the top speed considerably to 22 knots.
