As well as dripping with glamour and Italian chic, the Azimut 72 impresses with its excellent attention to detail and intelligent attiude towards weight saving

Though the Azimut 72 is as stylish and glamorous as they come it’s the attention to every day, practical detailing that is so impressive on something that could so easily have let form totally overrule function.

Not only that but the has been a conscious effort on creating vast amounts of headroom on the 72 and, in way of an example, there is over 6ft 6in (2m) of headroom in the engineroom alone!

This elevated main deck also means that the floor in the saloon can be totally flat without any steps to break up your passage from cockpit to companionway.

To offset the extra height of the boat and the resulting higher centre of gravity Azimut has infused the whole of superstructure and flybridge with carbon fibre to keep weight down.

Azimut says that by doing this it has saved 30% on weight and also managed to bring down the boat’s centre of gravity and keep the handling taught.

Storage is also excellent with a huge variety from small fiddled cupboards bespoke to glassware up to vast, moulded bins on the foredeck and flybridge.

Below decks there are four cabins, including a beautiful master ensuite – with lots of headroom, of course – and very spacious VIP in the bow. Even the twin guest cabins are blessed with masses of headroom and an impressive amount of storage.

In the name of keeping things simple the 72 is only offered with one engine option, that being a pair of 1,400hp MAN V12s good for a healthy top speed of 31 knots.
